Routinewheel for Mac (early preview)
====================================

UNDER DEVELOPMENT: this Mac version is far from ready. It hasn't been tested on a real Mac yet,
so expect some things not to work. Every problem you report gets it to full strength faster.
Tell us what happens: in Routinewheel, open Help and press "Tell us what you need",
or email travis@routinewheel.com (https://routinewheel.com/help#contact).

Needs macOS 11 Big Sur or later, on an Apple silicon or Intel Mac. No admin rights needed.

1. Move Routinewheel to your Applications folder.
(If your Mac asks for an administrator password, make a folder called "Applications" in your home
folder and put it there instead.)

2. The first time, right-click (or Control-click) Routinewheel and choose Open, then Open again.
Routinewheel isn't signed by Apple yet, so a plain double-click is blocked the first time.
On macOS 15 Sequoia or later: double-click it once, close the message, then go to
System Settings > Privacy & Security, scroll down and click "Open Anyway".

3. The first start downloads about 16 MB (Python, the language Routinewheel is written in) from
github.com and checks it. After that it starts straight away, and works offline.

4. Routinewheel opens in your browser as an app window. It has no Dock icon: open it again from
Applications to bring the window back. Settings > Quit Routinewheel quits it.

5. When it asks, allow it in System Settings > Privacy & Security:
     - Accessibility (to press keys and click for your macros)
     - Input Monitoring (to record, and for your shortcut keys and the emergency stop)
     - Screen Recording (for screenshots, "click on a picture" and window names)
Later, your Mac may also ask about:
     - Microphone (only for voice commands and dictation; nothing leaves your Mac)
     - Automation (when a macro uses Excel, Word, Outlook, Mail, Music or Finder)
If it still says it isn't allowed, quit Routinewheel and open it again.

Emergency stop: Control+Option+Esc (or F15).

To remove it: quit it, turn off Settings > Open at login, drag Routinewheel to the Trash, and delete
these folders in your home folder's Library > Application Support:
"Routinewheel" (your macros and settings) and "Routinewheel Python".
